I think all forenames can be linked thusly. My uncle, for example, was given the last names of two ancestral lines for his forenames. (My Mum always said he was fortunate they both worked.)
I have also run across numerous people who named their children for places they lived, or where their parents had lived, or just a place name they liked (Indiana, Madison).
Often, if you search back for the origins or the place names, they, too, are linked to someone's last / family name. Brisbane, Queensland, Australia (and, no, you do not pronounce that as Bris-bayne, more as Brizbn), was named for Sir Thomas Brisbane, a former Governor of the Colony of New South Wales. Adelaide, South Australia, was named for Queen Adelaide, but there have been folk who liked the name and named their children for the city, not the Queen.
