Stuck on brick wall ancestor Esteban de Torres, b. ~1705, d. 1759. Any help?

I’ve traced back my Torres side of the family for a while now, up to my eighth great-grandfather, Esteban de Torres. He married twice - first to Antonia Petrona Ramirez, date unknown, then to María Mexía on the 4th of November 1751 in Nochistlan de Mejía, Zacatecas. Unfortunately this marriage record doesn’t include his parents, nor have I been able to track down any baptism records for an Esteban in the area. I do have a DNA test for his descendant Henry Torres, but I haven’t had any luck with triangulation either. Any help as to what I should do next would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked for his marriages in the matrimonial investigations? For a first marriage they almost always name the parents; however for subsequent marriages they typically do not, but you might get lucky.

Also, it is worthwhile checking out the dispensations for his first marriage. If one was required for the second marriage, I think you would already know that from the marriage record. These records are in the archives of the Diocese of Guadalajara. Some are indexed/extracted at Family Search. There is also the website called “Guadalajara dispensa” where volunteers have made indexes of many of the films; additionally there is the book “Sagrada Mitra de Guadalajara” that is an extract and index of many of the early films.

You might also look for the family in Aguascalientes as there was a lot of interchange between these two states.
