How can I get rid of a male's "former name" if not different from current name?

I tried deleting current name but can't get rid of the automatic "Anonymous" that takes its place.

Any idea how it got there in the first place?  It wasn't there in the initial profile entry.

Thanks for any help, Gail

Looks good!

The (name) is no longer there, so something took care of that.  I think what prompted it in the first place was my trying to get a comma after the last name with a space before "Sr."

I'd still like the comma before Sr. without a space after the last name.  Any idea how to accomplish that?

Sr goes in the Suffix box.  It will not have a comma.

Right, that's why I tried placing the comma after the last name (a procedure that works neatly in my Ancestry.com profiles).  Making an entry in Current Name that did not match what was already entered in Name at Birth is what set put the (former name) format in place, may basic problem.
So, you have discovered that you cannot have a comma in the Current Last Name field unless you also have a comma in the Last Name At Birth field.

The Last Name at Birth field is what creates the Wiki-ID, so you cannot have a comma. Sorry.  There is no way around it.
Okay, got it, thanks.
