While researching my ancestors in the Maritime provinces of Canada, i often notice that a young man sets off to find fame and fortune and is never heard of again.

Tonight i came across this index to coroners' reports:

So many mining accidents, so many rockslides, so many accidents involving the railways...

Maybe someone will find one of their long lost great-uncles there.

Wow. What an incredible document.

Suicides, murders, and drownings. So many mining and railway accidents. So many Chinese people among others.

So sad.

Thanks. I found my Gt. Uncle Leonard White who died in a train accident in Chemainus.  Because it took place at a logging operation they just called it a logging accident.
