Help proving father

I am assuming based on a hunch and circumstantial evidence that James K Johnson of Company K of the Ny 40th Regiment is the father of Ada Johnson Farrell.  He died and is buried in Winona, KS which is one county over from her residence in 1900 census. Additionally there is a James K Johnson in the 1875 NY state and 1880 Federal censuses that matches with having a daughter Ada.  However I have had no luck finding any information to match on her marriage certificate or any records of her death.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I would agree with you Gregory, on James K. being the father.

I've also found his parents, if it turns out to be true:

Yes, I found that ancestry census info and with his burial in Winona Kansas about 52 miles from where she was enumerated in 1900 it would make sense, however without any obituary or listings on the death and or marriage licenses unfortunately it’s purely circumstantial.

Getting closer.

Here is a link to a clipping from the January 14, 1892 edition of The Winona Clipper, which recites the marriage of Ada Johnson to "Mr. Farrell"

Great news, it appears that the wife remarried, or less likely reverted to a maiden name(unknown at this time).  I shall continue looking into El Paso.  And Ada’s husband did work for the railroad.  I have a clipping from an accident where he was thrown through the window in a steam explosion.

Greg:

Here is an obituary for Ada's mother:

Thank you, I believe with the number of news articles I feel comfortable making the link to the father and mother in wikitree and hopefully in time will find stronger proof.
