Discontinuation of the bdm.psopho.co.nz website

Hi New Zealanders, Zach here from the Australia Project.

I was looking for NZ BDM records today when I saw a 404 error message on the bdm.psopho.co.nz search page. Upon navigating to the homepage, I found that the DIA has blocked the website, and the official search page must be used instead.

Is anybody else aware that this has happened? Does anybody know why or when this happened? I just ask because bdm.psopho.co.nz is still mentioned on the NZ Genealogy Resources category page and I haven’t seen any other G2G posts about this discontinuation either.

Thanks,

I had not heard of the psopho site. What did it do that the official search pages don't?
You could search for the birth, marriage, death, and children's birth records for the same person all in one query. It also provided a more modernistic interface than that of the DIA, including removing the requirement to give all three date fields (day, month, and year).

It is a very recent development with the DIA (Department of Internal Affairs) deciding to block the bdm.psopho.co.nz site from accessing the records. Nic, the owner of the site, tried to get back access but has been denied. This happened less than 6 days ago. Several New Zealand Facebook groups have it mentioned to my knowledge.

And I have removed the link to the bdm.psopho.co.nz site from the [[Category:New_Zealand_Genealogy_Resources]] page
