It has now been a few months since Australian researchers discovered the identity of the Somerton Man- Carl Webb. The Somerton Man was an unidentified man whose body was found in 1948 in Somerton Park, Adelaide. Instead of ID, the man carried a small piece of paper rippped from a book of poetry, with the words "tamam shud", meaning "the end" or similar in Persian. You can imagine, the mystery of the man's identity and the 'code' in his pocket (and other hints relating to the caseāthe threads of the man's clothes , etc.) meant Australia's interest in this case endured across the decades.
Tonight, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) will air an 'Australian Story' about the finding, likely to be well-worth watching for those with an interest. And it will be available on ABC iView and Youtube after airing.
I would like to share with Wikitreers an article that relates, from today's ABC News updates, with plenty of media and information for those with an interest who can't wait until tonight: Somerton Man Charles Webb's true identity revealed in family photographs and divorce papers Australian Story / By Ben Cheshire.
Enjoy!
