For seven years I have worked to contribute to correct and accurate data on WikiTree. I have enjoyed working with many of you on this, especially with the members of the Dutch Roots Project. In those years I also made dear friends here. I deduce that my contributions were appreciated from the fact that I received an average of 10 thanks a week, something I look back on with pride.
I find it all the more painful to let you know that I am going to close my account. I was in doubt for a long time because of the solidarity I feel with the core members of the Dutch Roots Project.
Several times I have been exposed to the humiliating process of disciplinary action by those in power here. Each time in response to my denouncing their actions that were contrary to their own code of honor. Never because I mistreated regular WikiTree members.
The recent resigning by the core members of the Netherlands (formerly Dutch Roots) Project was what made me decide this. In conjunction with my condemnation here by a "council" of anonymous members. For unspecified “violations” reported by anonymous parties.
Of course I would like to continue working together, albeit in different ways! I will be reachable through the ex-core members of the Dutch Roots Project.
Thanks for everything, keep going, and good luck with your work here!
P.S. This post of mine may not be available here on G2G but elsewhere because it was removed before you could read it. That's how it works here.
My message can be taken as criticism and that is forbidden, just like many other things that we Dutch consider normal discussion elements. Humor, sarcasm, vent.
Several people I highly value for their commitment to quality and honesty have already been removed from WikiTree for these artificial reasons. Or, like me, closed their account themselves.
