On 7 Jul 2020 Anne B wrote on Newcome-5:

Rachel needs to be looked at. Torrey mentions [Newcomb?] so not at all certain, and Anderson's sketch of her father, says there is no further record after her immigration. I've added a research note listing the sources Torrey referenced.

With more than two years since Anne B posted this comment, and with Anderson's note that there is no further record of Rachel Newcomb/Newcome after her 1635 immigration, it is high time to disconnect her from Peter Adams. Peter Adams did marry a Rachel, but her last name remains unknown.

There are updates in the GM Newsletters for the mother and father in v10:19 and v15:30 but nothing on the daughter Rachel appears to have been uncovered. Yes, time to disconnect.

Has someone slogged through the sources cited by Torrey that Anne B helpfully listed two years ago? If not, I'm willing to try to save my 8th GGMother from oblivion.

It's been 2 years since Anne raised this issue, so a few more days won't hurt if you want to review those sources before she is detached as Peter's spouse, but Anderson's conclusion that there is no further record of Rachel after her migration creates a pretty strong presumption against keeping her attached.
Well, I slogged through all but one of Torrey's cited sources, and found only one that suggested that Rachel Newcomb was perhaps the Rachel who married Peter Adams.  With no proof.  Added that to the profile.  Only remaining possibility that occurs to me is to slog through the difficult early records of Braintree to identify other possible Rachels who might have married Peter;  if no others found, that might give a bit of support for the connection.
Has been my 8th GGM for a long time as well, thanks for documenting the plausible leads…at least that info will be in historical record.
