Can we have a category? (EDITED TAGS )

There were 48, 000 young men conscripted into the mines during WW2. They had no option, no medals and  little recognition until very recently.

Unless I missed it we don't recognise them on here either.

Link is to Eric Morecombe, notable and former Bevin Boy.

Thanks for this window into history, Helen. I had not heard of them before.

Helen, I don't know if this program is still available, I think it is  on YouTube.

The Wartime Farm Series 1, episode 5, has video about the conditions the Bevin Boys endured.

Thanks Melanie, I really liked Wartime Farm, it is a great depiction of life during WW2.

I liked ALL the Farm series.  It's how I "discovered" Amelia King.

Hi Helen. I agree it would be nice to have this 'Bevin Boys' category. They are recognized to an extent on wikitree through the England Project mining disasters. For example, I have been documenting incidents in Shropshire and Staffordshire and there are also records for many other counties. best regards, David
