Trying to connect Lee-42089

Hello G2G,

I need help finding a connection.  In my Rootsmagic database I have my ancestor Jane Lee (Lee-41572) as the daughter of a James Lee.  But I realized, I have no sources for that information.  So as I was building out my Graham/Lee line (Washington County, Pennsylvania, United States), I realized that I could not add this connection without sourcing.  Help me crack this one.

Is Jane Lee (Lee-41572), the daughter of General James Lee (Lee-42089)?  Help me source this one out.

Thank you all!

Cheers!

In trying to do some research for you, there appears to be a couple of men named James Lee from Pennsylvania that may have been conflated over the years.   Also, check the marriage of Jane and Joseph....they lived in Pennsylvania, I doubt they were married in Iowa.
Thank you for the mention of Des Moines, that seems to be some weird data that got into my database either through GEDCOM imports into Rootsmagic or somewhere else, so I have been trying to delete that.  I got this instance of it, thank you.

I saw that too.  It is really hard to research such a common name in that area.  I will look at the other James' as well.

Thank you.
What I do have is that my Jane Lee mentions her sister, Elenor, in her Will on Ancestry.  This James Lee seems to be buried next to an Elenor and is in the census with an Elenor in the household (who seems to be a daughter), so I think I have the right James, but of course I am not totally sure.

Based on the will located at https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G991-M72C?i=611

Eleanor names her brother William, unmarried sister, Mary, sister Susan Hughes and "deceased" sister Jane Graham.

That seems sufficient to prove the relationships shown on Find a Grave at https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/142908646/james-lee

While we look for more evidence, I think you are safe in your assumptions....

Hi Robin,

Thank you for this and this source.  I am not sure how you found that, but it is great!  It does seem to clarify those relationships.  Thank you.  Let me know if you find more as well.  I will update and add the associated profiles.
