The old one can still be switched to, and does still work with WikiTree X

There's a notice "This previous version will no longer be available in early 2023"

WikiTree X is  longer being maintained so it may never be updated for the new format FS person pages.

I have implemented some similar features to WikiTree X in the WikiTree Sourcer extension. Some of that is described here. I plan to continue to add features to cover other functionality from WikiTree X.

Thanks for that Rob. On a quick read it does look like WikiTree Sourcer covers my main use of WikiTree X, ie to quickly populate a profile of new family members (and I presume, adding the link to FamilySearch where it came from)
Will investigate further.
Rob,  I use Wikitree X for starting new profiles either from familysearch or findagrave.  Findagrave only works sometimes.

I have Sourcer installed but haven't discovered how to achieve this functionality with Sourcer.  Should I keep looking? Does it exist?

thanks

Hi Stu, yes Sourcer will help you with starting new profiles from FamilySearch or Find A Grave.

The process is described in the Sourcer User Guide (see this link). For a FamilySearch profile you would use the "From a profile" case, for Find A Grave you would use the "From a record" case.

You can also see an example of using this process in my intro video at time 10:43.

For Find A Grave, the current version of Sourcer doesn't fill in the death place. This will be fixed in the next version.

Thanks Rob.
One other question, Rob.  In your video, I noticed you used a census site to create a citation.  The site I use the most is Library and Archives Canada.  An example of a record is as follows: https://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/census/1851/Pages/item.aspx?itemid=45882

WikiTree Sourcer doesn't know how to extract data from this site.

Is there any plan to support this site?  Thanks
The Canada sites are on the list to add, Sourcer is now an open-source project and several programmers are helping to add new sites: https://github.com/RobPavey/wikitree-sourcer
Thanks. Good to know.

This is also an issue for Wikitree Sourcer.

As far as I know WikiTree Sourcer has been working on the new style FamilySearch person pages for a while.

If there is one that it doesn't work on please let me know.
It didn't work on this first profile I tried but seems okay now.
