Correct format for representing profiles of former slaves

My ancestor, Benjamin Barnett (Barnett-5457) had at least three children by his slave, Sary, among others. Benjamin and Sary's children were named Charlotte, William, and Benjamin. I want to explore a possible connection between Susan Barnett Curry (Barnett-5870) and William, Sary's son, who may be Susan's father. What is the best way to represent Sary and her children in profiles so her descendants' connections can be established or at least explored in more detail?

I realize this family never was in the US…. but some of the guidelines the US Black Heritage Project made might help. You could make Sarah and the children’s profiles with the slave owner’s surname (since Unknown isn’t very helpful, and you can mark Uncertain), then just proceed as usual. Here’s the USBH page on documenting slavery, in case some of the ideas/methods may useful to you.

Thank you, Elaine. This is what I thought might be best and it is entirely logical, but I thank you for being kind enough to validate the idea and for providing me a quick and very helpful answer.

I have reason to believe that Sary's descendants may have traveled to the US. They would be my cousins, so it may relate indirectly to US Black Heritage.
