What is the best way to protect a source?

I have encountered a problem. I wrote a bio for a US Civil War Medal of Honor recipient (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Collins-24383). He received the award for the capture of a rebel flag. Recently, his great-granddaughter saw and took pictures of the flag. I would like to include the pictures in the bio and I have her permission. HOWEVER, she posted the pictures on other sites, including social media and was immediately subjected to hate speech. She was chided for posting a hate symbol, cursed and threatened. Suggestions were made that someone should locate and burn the historical artifact. How do I share this historical event and symbol, yet provide protection for her and the location of the flag in this day of unchecked extremism?

"So we must beware of a tyranny of opinion which tries to make only one side of a question the one which may be heard. Everyone is in favour of free speech. Hardly a day passes without its being extolled, but some people’s idea of it is that they are free to say what they like, but if anyone says anything back, that is an outrage."

Winston Churchill 1943

I would post it with a complete explanation of why it is being shown as a trophy of war against what that flag stood for.  If you listen to the hate mongers on the internet...they win.
That is so true.

Sorry, but it's probably best to err on the side of caution and don't post the photos.

I don't like the answer but you're probably right. Thanks.
Alternatively, you could post the photo and in the source information, cite something like:

"Original photo taken by A.B. [name withheld to protect privacy], date, location..."
