Ulysses S. and Frederick are 7th cousins twice removed

Hiram Ulysses Grant (1822-1885) and Frederick Rogers are both descendants of Tryphosa (Lee) Tracy (1597-bef.1655).

1. Hiram is the son of Jesse Root Grant (1794-1873) [confident]
2. Jesse is the son of Noah Delano Grant III (1748-1819) [confident]
3. Noah is the son of Susannah (Delano) Grant (1724-1806) [confident]
4. Susannah is the daughter of Amy (Hatch) Delano (1687-1762) [confident]
5. Amy is the daughter of Amy (Allen) Hatch (1663-1709) [confident]
6. Amy is the daughter of Elizabeth (Partridge) Allen (1643-abt.1722) [confident]
7. Elizabeth is the daughter of Sarah (Tracy) Partridge (abt.1623-1708) [unknown confidence]
8. Sarah is the daughter of Tryphosa (Lee) Tracy (1597-bef.1655) [confident]
This makes Tryphosa the sixth great grandmother of Hiram.

1. Frederick is the son of Otis Wendell Rogers (1912-1993) DNA confirmed
2. Otis is the son of Frederick Kimball Rogers (1887-1959) DNA confirmed
3. Frederick is the son of Timothy Otis Rogers (1855-1919) [confident]
4. Timothy is the son of Albert Cobb Rogers (1817-1890) [confident]
5. Albert is the son of Timothy Rogers Sr. (1788-1852) [confident]
6. Timothy is the son of Jonathan Rogers (1750-1834) [confident]
7. Jonathan is the son of James Rogers (1706-1759) [confident]
8. James is the son of Susannah (Tracy) Rogers (1676-aft.1749) [confident]
9. Susannah is the daughter of John Tracy (abt.1632-1718) [unknown confidence]
10. John is the son of Tryphosa (Lee) Tracy (1597-bef.1655) [unknown confidence]
This makes Tryphosa the eighth great grandmother of Frederick

From a US Presidents Project standpoint, I doubt we will easily find the connection through the Grant family.   The President's immigrating ancestor was Matthew Grant, who came to the colonies about 1630 as part of the Puritan Great Migration.   https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Grant-201

Working through what appears to be your Grant heritage, your immigrating ancestor was John Grant.   There is a book written by  Ruth Winona Grant, "The Loyalist Widow, Elizabeth Grant; Her Family, and The Area in Which They Settled"

John Grant, had been loyal to England and the King during the Revolutionary War and he had fought for the King's army. He was apparently wounded and died near the end of the war in 1783. Since they had been Loyalists, the family was no longer welcome in the new United States and the King's American Regiment helped relocate them into Canada.   The book is about Elizabeth, her remarriage and her Grant children.
