(1) Shall we update Joanna's LNAB to Collins or Collens, or not?
(2) Might we be able to locate English records that would improve upon Joanna's identify?
In his 2019 article in The American Genealogist about the ancestry of Robert Tuck, author Clifford Stott called her Joan Collins. Her birth and parentage are not known.
His finding is based on a "key piece of the puzzle"--the 22 May 1639 will of widow Ellen Collens of "the p[ar]ishe of St. John of Berestreet in the city of Norwich." The will includes a bequest to "my kinsman Roberte Tucke the sonne of Robt Tucke now or late of New England," to be paid when he reaches 24 years.
Based on this record, Stott then located a Norwich marriage at St. Stephen, 24 January 1618/9," for Robert Tooke and Jone Collens. Also located in that parish register was the baptism of their son Robert, 31 October 1619.
In the article, Stott identifies our immigrant/PGM as Robert^1 Tuck (Robert^A, Robert^B, John^C), baptized All Saints, Norwich, 19 October 1596.
