There are six or seven Floyd families on the 1840 Census in Monongalia County VA, (Elizabeth, James, John, two Michaels, Thomas, and William) so it's pretty likely that one of them includes Elizabeth.  You might look for church records using the name of minister who married Elizabeth and Rawley.   Marion was formed from Monongalia in 1842, so records are likely in Monongalia.

I have looked into each of them with no listing of a child named Elizabeth born in August 1825. I can now only conclude that Elizabeth May have been born  out of wedlock.

I have been unable to find a birth record of her. Any help on this appreciated. Thank you all.

It's not really surprising that you haven't found her and that doesn't mean she was not legitimate.  There aren't a lot of birth records in the western part of Virginia back then.  Most churches didn't keep their own records - the minister kept them and when he moved on the records went with him.  People didn't always own the land they lived on so they didn't leave wills when they died.  Elizabeth married before the 1850 census, so would only be listed with a gender and age range in earlier censuses.  There were a lot of Floyds in Virginia (one of them was Governor), so it might be that she was a cousin or other relative of one of the Monongalia families and was just living with them for some reason.

There are two Floyd families listed in the 1930 census for Monongalia, Virginia, Western District that have a 5-year-old female; James H. Floyd and Michael Floyd. Might be possibilities.

I have added all my additional sources and research notes to the profile. Happy hunting!
