Elizabeth Burks (Crawford) Anderson (abt.1686-1788) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree

Was the noted Elizabeth Crawford Anderson actually the daughter of Margaret Cambell and John James Crawford or was it some kind of inventive way to make people think this family was related to Mary - Queen of Scots. It seems kind of questionable to me, but it's noted so many times, you can't help to wonder. Even Edu sites not the genealogy.

My distant grandfather was George Anderson

Descendants of George Anderson (rootsweb.com)

His daughter married

Nathan Underwood

He married 1736 in Madison County, Virginia, Elizabeth Anne Anderson Underwood, born 1720 in Christ Church Parish, Middlesex, Virginia, (daughter of George Anderson and Elizabeth Anderson) died 1790 in Madison County, Virginia.

Nathan was from the Underwoods from Madison County, Virginia. Nobody knows their national affiliation in Britain.

Descendants of John Underwood (rootsweb.com)

I can't find a single source ----but it could have a historic notation. As far as I can tell - all her kids were from Hugh Rose.

There's a large DNA following but that's outside the normal autosomal testing range.

Anybody have an idea?

Richard, we should try to find a descendant of Elizabeth who is in the mtdna line and test them against someone from a different sibling to see if they are the same.

Likewise, this is a great candidate for the YDNA investigation for the Crawford Name Study. Wayne has a YDNA test indicating that John James should be in haplogroup R1a1a. I will add the corresponding category for the name study this week and we can see where there might be any discrepancies as we find more YDNA tests in John James' descendants in the patrilineal line.

I should note that there are other branches of the family that also have claims back to famous clan members that are not proven, not unusual

I'm a direct descendant but I don't think I would be able to contribute. Emerine Underwood's Maternal DNA was U5B1B1G1A. ---

Seventh great grandson

1. Richard is the son of [private mother] DNA confirmed
2. [Private] is the daughter of Ruby Wade [confident]
3. Ruby is the daughter of Jeanette L (Booe) Wade (1885-1959) [confident]
4. Jeanette is the daughter of Emerine Underwood (1861-1936) [unknown confidence]
5. Emerine is the daughter of John Underwood (abt.1834-abt.1874) [confident]
6. John is the son of Jonathan Underwood (abt.1801-1882) [confident]
7. Jonathan is the son of Colby Underwood (abt.1770-abt.1850) [unknown confidence]

9. Joshua is the son of Elizabeth Anne (Anderson) Underwood (abt.1718-abt.1802) [unknown confidence]
This makes Elizabeth the seventh great grandmother of Richard.

I don't understand the entitlement in names but at the Plowden it notes -

Sir Hugh Campbell and Lady Henrietta had 6 children.

Alexander Campbell, Margaret (Campbell) Crawford, Margaret (Campbell) Rose, Archibald Campbell of Cawdor, Jean (Campbell) Campbell Lady Meldrum and Anne (Campbell) MacLean

She may have had a mother called Margaret Campbell but it was not the one attached in WikiTree as she was married to Hugh Rose. Elizabeth and her father should be detached from this Margaret Campbell.

Elizabeth’s brother, Aaron, was born in 1677 - the previously attached mother would have been 9 years old.
