I'm 46, from Australia and researching both sides of my family tree. I'm here after becoming frustrated with the ready copying of inaccurate data on the commercial sites and because I have some ambiguity on both sides of my family I'm trying to work through.
My paternal grandfather's side (Mackenzie/Forbes/Ferguson/Wiseman) has been reasonably straightforward, however my paternal grandmother's side has been more interesting, with varying family stories due to a teen pregnancy out of wedlock in the 1920's. The maiden name here is Morrison.
On my maternal side, we have a Swedish and a DNA confirmed Finnish connection that involve a potential name change upon emigration to Australia - again making things murky. Some of the names here are Kemp, Thors, Sorrell, Webb, Hall.
I've ordered some birth certificates and the like and have my DNA uploaded to 23andme, myheritage and myFTDNA. My mum has just had her DNA done - unfortunately Fedex lost my dad's and we're going to need to do it again!
I believe I may have hooked in to my maternal grandfather's connection, which is a bit exciting!
