Help on Alfred Harper (Hunt)

Question

My wife recently asked for some help. She found an ancestor‘s name is Alfred Harper.  Born February 17, 1826 Weymouth, North Polk County, MassachusettsDied April 5, 1876, Weymouth, Norfolk County, Massachusetts. He did a name change in 1850. Still in his fathers will. Court docs and show the date it was changed. Nobody knows why the change from Hunt to Harper. Father Daniel Albert Hunt mother Sally or Sarah TIRREL
