When to be bold / how long to wait before reaction from profile manager?

I am wondering how long I should wait until I add children & other relationships to a profile and connect two profiles when the profile is not an orphan. I left a message on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Van_Dijk-335 2 months ago.

Can I just start working on it or do I need to take any additional steps?

I agree with Vance, on a profile as incomplete as this one I would not bother to contact the PM first. If you have reliable sources, go ahead and make the changes.

We're supposed to contact a PM before "making significant or numerous changes". Personally I would post a comment on a profile first in these circumstances:

1. My changes would contradict or disagree with existing information in the biography

2. The profile is project-protected or someone has obviously spent a lot of time on the profile

3. I want to remove or replace the attached parents or spouse

The profile manager is not very active and the profile is open and certainly needs GedCom clean-up and more information added. At this point, I would say go for it as long as you have sources to back up the family information you are adding.

The PM is rarely active, but two months is plenty of time to wait as long as you have good documentation for the relatives.

Since I am not a very patient person at times (my time is limited due to health), what I do is email the PM letting them know what I am going to do with the profile and state I will be performing the action over the hours / days whichever it may be. Then let them know should they find any error or believe the changes should not be there, to reach out.

Merges are a bit different, I just use the merge request and then have to be patient for time to run out and someone to complete it.

So far those contacted have either been civil over the notifications or not responded.

When its auto-generated gedcom garbage like that, I just delete it and replace it with actual information. "It's a rough draft and needs to be edited." I edit it and don't wait for permission. I only contact someone if they have gone to the trouble of creating a profile based on real sources.

The profile you show looks like a GEDCOM import with dates unknown and locations unknown.
That should be filled in at least if not done in the last 2 months.
See if they send a thank you.

Thank you all for your answers. It gives me a little more confidence in how to deal with managed profiles.
