Hello WikiTreers!

We have now finished up with WikiTree Challenge #19. We banded together to research the genealogy of American actor Mark Hamill, best known for his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars

Our week began on Thursday, October 6, at noon EDT (4pm UTC) and ended at noon on October 13 EDT (4pm UTC). You didn't need any particular skills to participate. Those that did happen to have experience with Canadian, Irish, or Swedish records were definitely needed.

It's was a lot of fun - we rocked this!!

See the tracking for who all participated.

Sign me up.
Mark is my 10th cousin on my mother's side.
One of his ancestors was born in the same parish in Sweden as one of my father's grandparents.

That's great, Donald! I hope you make some family connections that week.

I'll join this one.  I see Canadian Content.

Use the force to find the ancestors, I will.
by Matthew Evans G2G6 Mach 7 (75.3k points)
Thank you Matthew! We do need Canadian research help.
Matthew, do you have access to the Drouin Collection?  I do not, but I can go into the BAC-LAC census records and see what I can find there.  It is too bad we don't have a province name for the Hull family, but the children were born in Canada, so that will help.  Joanna
I checked the records already on the Oscar Hull profile.  Looks like his place of birth is incorrect and he was actually born in Vermont, which is where his parents were married.  His father died in or near Ingersoll, Ontario, so I/we should check the Ontario census records in 1851 and 1861.

Something odd:  Effie isn't in the 1870 Michigan census, although in 1880 it says she was 14 and born in Canada.  Will be interesting to see if she was in Ontario in 1870.

I'm in the midst of moving, so I can't actually participate in researching this line to my 9x cousin Mark. Thanks for making me look. https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Relationship&action=calculate&person1Name=Hamill-277&person2Name=Bishop-3754

I'm a big fan so count me in!
I've done some Swedish research - I don't speak the language but I have a basic familiarity with the types of records, where to find them, and the family name conventions so I might be of some use there.

I plan to use the source, Luke...

Today we are 9th cousins three times removed through Roger Mowry (1610–1667). We're 20 degrees apart through Rachel Babcock and James Powley.
