Need help with two different men John Webb (born 1667) being confused.

I just posted about this problem on Webb-1527 (which seems to have incorrect dates and incorrect parents).

There are two men John Webb (both probably born in 1667) being confused. One married Hannah Bassett and one married Ruth Graves. I don't think the one who married Ruth Graves was son of John Webb and Susanna Cunliffe. Anyway, here is some information from the profile (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Webb-634) of the one who married Hannah Bassett:

"Of note is another John Webb who lived in Connecticut around this same time who may be confused with this John Webb, subject of this profile. The other John Webb was born same year, 1667, in Middlesex, Connecticut; married Ruth Graves on January 25, 1699/1700 in Saybrook, Connecticut; and died in Connecticut on January 28, 1711/12, one day after this John Webb. Some trees present Ruth Graves as 2nd wife of the John Webb, who is subject of this profile; however, the "Death" registry for "Springfield, Massachusetts," clearly identifies "Anna Web" as wife of John Web who died on January 27, 1711/12 in Springfield, Massachusetts Bay."

Best practice is to put a note above the biography explaining how these two men keep getting conflated. You can just keep it simple by saying something like what you have posted here. Then in the body of the biography go into more detail and supply the sources.

If you run into a problem where other people keep making changes to the profile to further confuse the two fellows (its been done) you may need a project to protect the profile. This will limit editing without consulting the project.
