Can anyone confirm it is legal to upload images of UK birth, marriage and death certificates?

Uploading a photo of a UK birth, marriage, or death certificate appears to be perfectly legal as long as the certificate does not refer to any living person. This is according to https://cdn.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documents/information-management/reproduction-of-birth-death-marriage-certificates.pdf which states on p6:

Q4: I'm publishing my family tree on the internet - I want to publish images of the certificates I have.

Answer: As long as there are no details about living individuals there is no problem about publishing the images of the certificates on your family tree website. Any modern certificates would be subject to the Data Protection Act, and would need the permission of any living named person prior to publication.

I was surprised to find that this is the case so I want to confirm this is correct before proceeding.

If this is correct, is there any reason why it is not a good idea?

Omitted from the "Answer:" quoted in the question is the additional stipulation that Crown Copyright must be acknowledged in respect of each image published. This is no more onerous than citing e.g. a Creative Commons licence, but should be done.

It's from the 'horse's mouth' i.e the National authority (the same authority which maintains it's right to copyright of census images)

Just be aware that clergy, registrars, informants on birth  and  death certs and doctors certifying death  may still be alive.

Thanks for confirming my understanding. I think that if I upload only certificates dated pre-1900, that will guarantee that no one living is recorded on them. Even with that restriction I think this will be very useful for anyone wishing to verify my logic, as the certificates contain significantly more information than the indexes. They will be able to view this information without the expense of ordering a copy certificate themselves.
