Creation of new profiles/connecting profiles.

Question

Why are folks creating profiles and adding unaccessible references/sources and not look at a foregoing profile for sources/references and only making a statement that one is necessary?

 I wish i knew the answer, Sharon. Many, or possibly most, are new,  haven't learned how the program works, and don't know  how to add verifiable  sources that can be accessed or even how to research for sources.  

But I also know that our greeters and others are doing a great job of offering help, giving suggestions, and reminding where necessary.

There are also thousands of very old profiles that were created with gedcom uploads that need a lot of work. It is so bad that we have a project just to fix these up!

They started a program for new folks and they were encouraged to go through it.  Is this no longer the case?
