New cemetery Category

Hi, I hope this is still the way to request a new category.

Please could I have a new category for people buried in the churchyard of St Mary the Virgin, Burnham on Crouch, Essex?

Thanks, Emily

Hi Emily,

You have the option to create the category yourself. Follow the instructions here:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Category_Cemetery_Formatting

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Category_Creation_and_Removal

The main things to remember, are: find out if a category already exists, research the correct name, determine the formatting for the category. Then add the category to a profile (go ahead and click save anyway). Then go to the newly created category page and add the category box which will nest the category under the appropriate parent category.

It really is easier than it sounds. Feel free to drop me a note if you have any questions.

In this particular case, the cemetery was already in existence.  I placed the category on the profile. Here is the category programming if you need it for other profiles.

[[Category:Burnham-on-Crouch Cemetery, Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex]]

We would love to have you join our group and learn the cemetery category process as Peggy suggested. To answer your question though, it is my belief that this is still the way to request help if you feel the process is difficult.
