Looking for information/sources for this German-Polish couple, pre-1800

HI all,

I recently was working on a German branch in my family (I don't have many as my ancestry is 90%+ Dutch) and I came across a couple, Gillis Mohr (in Dutch is Moor) and Maria Catharina Teves/Tewes. They were married in 1740 in the city of Breslau, which is now Wroclaw in Poland. It used to be a part of Preussen.

They later moved to the town of Randerath, in Nordrhein-Westfalen, where their 3 sons were baptised between c.1745 and c.1765 (still working on building the family).

Their sons all moved to and died in the Netherlands in various places (Portugaal, Monster, and Venlo) but I don't know if Gillis and Maria did as well.

I'm just wondering if I can find any more information on them either in Poland, Germany, or the Netherlands? I don't know what kind of church they were married in, I think it was Catholic however. I am still currently searching for potential family.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Tomasz,

I had a look at the site (a good resource!). There are records of Mohr's in the city of Wroclaw but no records of Gillis or possible parents that I can see.

Thanks for the links though, I'll have to remember the site.

Are you sure that Gillis Mohr and M.C. Teves were married in Breslau?
These links say they rather were married and were born in Randerath. There are also different versions of M.C.'s sunrmane: Fleris, Thevis.

Hi Robert,

I am sure that they were married in Breslau. If you look at Gillis' profile you'll see a link to the original marriage record.

The info on those trees is not quite accurate and then the errors seem to be copied.
