I would like to add a category to some profiles for people living in Gilman Washington which is now Issaquah.

Should I add Gilman or just use Issaquah?

1900 US Census says

Home in 1900: Gilman, King, Washington

From Wikipedia.org

Issaquah was originally developed to service the mining industry ..., and began as the town of "Gilman".

Whether you should create a category or not would be up to the project handling this location.

Theoretically there could be a category for Gilman, Washington with the parameters:

|enddate=xxxx
|succ1next1=Issaquah, Washington
|succ1text=Name changed (or similar)

and in the category for Issaquah should have

|startdate=xxxx
|succ1prev1=Gilman, Washington
|succ1text=Original name (or similar)

You can also use succ1next and succ1prev if you don't want the actual category name to show.
