See ancestry is showing I match people from 3 or 4 other children branches of John Strickland and Appa. I saw my heritage might have her parents listed in records but I can't see them right now.

Jane’s mother did not live anywhere near the Cherokee and the Lumbee did not exist until the mid-1800’s.  They are modern descendants of tribes that were wiped out before 1800.  It is very unlikely that Elizabeth Martin Strickland was Native American. Martin is a very common English name.   Interracial marriage was illegal and for that reason white men who married Native American women lived with their wife’s tribe.

Thank you.
I've also noticed what is on WikiTree.com is different from family search and geni.com. alot of Appa Martin source links are broken.
NO!  WRONG!  Have you ever heard of the Trail of Tears?  If not, go read the book!  People that had a squaw for a wife and didn't want to be sent down the trail, had their wife to wear white women's clothes, they then heading out into the woods and AVOIDED other people. They hid so they would not be forced to leave the place they wanted to live in.  I know for sure because I have distant cousins who are Indians!
This family had nothing to do with the Cherokee or the Trail of Tears.
