Question

I am trying to ascertain the Myers family origins. My daughter recently had a DNA test and the results were a bit odd. The test showed that her ancestry was 43% Scottish. It is possible, but my search leans more towards German lineage. The search continues, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hi, James. If it is the Myers line that you are particularly interested in, then a y-DNA test might be of more use to you. It would be specific to your patrilineal line, and would not be influenced by DNA inherited from any other lines.

My great grandfather was Henry Myers from Kentucky. I did DNA and I got 38% Scottish, 36 % England and northwestern Europe.

What kind of dna test did you have done ?

Your mother's line is from England and you got 50% of your dna from her.

You said it was your daughter who had the dna test. She would have gotten 50% of her dna from her mother, presumably your wife ... does she have a Scottish background ?

I came to see your post because I got a merge request for Dillion with Dhillion ... and I am wondering which surname spelling should be final.  Can you please tell me where you got that spelling ? ... a D followed by an H is kind of unusual. Thanks

hi my mothers maiden name was myers.  my daughter and sister and I did dna   Im mostly english , scotish and some german.  .did ancestry  and they I think said german was on my mothers side scotish on both and english both
