2 siblings in 1 family had spouses who are siblings ... should a profile be added for 1 of their parents?

Max Heilberg (Heilberg-102) married Sybil Lukes (Lukes-8).  Max's sister Martha (Heilberg-103) married Stanley Lukes (Lukes-9).  All four profiles came from the same gedcom.

I found birth registrations for Sybil and Stanley Lukes that both have Hyman as the mother's maiden name.  In order to relate Sybil and Stanley as siblings, I would have to create a profile for at least one of their parents.  Without knowing the first name of either parent, there is no way to look up anything about them.  Do I create a parent, taking a wild stab at a birth date, or do I leave Sybil and Stanley unrelated, other than an explanation in the biographies?

One online family tree shows that Stanley Lukes, b. June 1912, was the son of Israel Lukes and Leah Hyman: Ancestry  If this is the right family, FreeBMD shows that Israel Lukes and Leah Hyman were married in March 1911 at Newcastle upon Tyne: FreeBMD  When Israel died in 1958, the probate was at Newcastle to Stanley Lukes: Ancestry probate.   Leah died at Newcastle in March 1962: FreeBMD  Her probate was also to Stanley Lukes: Ancestry probate.  I believe Leah is the daughter of Moses and Annie Hyman,  Circumstantial evidence for this is that when Annie Hyman died in 1922, the probate was to Nathan Hyman and Isadore Lukes: Ancestry probate.  Unfortunately, I can't find Isadore to figure out his relationship to Annie.  JewishGen shows that Israel was buried on 05-Jul-1958 at the Hazelrigg Cemetery, North Tyneside, England: JewishGen .  Mrs. Leah Lukes was buried on 02-Feb-1962, also at Hazelrigg. (There are several other Lukes and numerous Hymans buried in the same cemetery.)

Vic,

That's amazing!  I don't know how you find these things but it absolutely blows my mind that you do it!

Is it possible that Isadore is really Israel and the name just got fouled up?  I've seen a whole lot of name foulups in the British records I've been looking at just for this family alone.

At any rate, it looks pretty definite that you have found Stanley's parents, so I can now go ahead and add them so that I can connect Stanley and Sybil.  By the way, Sybil had left England in 1949 with her husband Max.  They traveled to Cuba via Canada and New York, then left Cuba in the 50's during the upheaval when Castro ousted Battista and came back to New York, then moved to Virginia several years later.  Sybil died there in 1989.  This might be the reason she was not included in her parents' wills.

Thank you so much for all the work you did and the wonderful results you provided!

Gaile, just a passing thought, not an authoritative opinion on the subject.  If you were to associate the two Lukes as siblings, the system would then automatically create its own "Unnamed Father Lukes" profile, and you would not need to do anything further with it until you have more info.  There are already lots of those unnamed fathers in the data base, so presumably there is no policy to discourage it.

In this case there's another wrinkle worth noting.  If there were children of both of these marriages, the children would be classified as double first cousins, which might be a point of interest to their descendants that would be worth documenting.

Dennis,

I understand that a parent would automatically be created if I associated the siblings and I know that we have plenty of profiles that were created this way ... however, that does not make it the right thing to do, which is why I'm asking this question.

About the double cousin situation ... I have already encountered another situation of siblings who married siblings in this same gedcom.  That situation is even more complex because two brothers named Meyer married 2 sisters whose LNAB was also Meyer.  I don't know if they were cousins of some sort before the marriages!.
