I just created a Berks County Pennsylvania page for Palatine Migration

This is where many Palatine Migrants first settled after arriving from Europe. I plan to make an interactive map showing townships and churches and cemeteries and whatever else I can figure out. Ideas? Suggestions?

This is a great idea for a resource and one that I would be pleased to contribute to.  One thing to consider in this resource is how to account for the changing boundaries of townships over time, and also a map showing how Berks was carved out of Lancaster, and later on how Dauphin (and later Lebanon) were carved out of parts of Berks. The changing boundaries sometimes lead to mis-assignments in Wikitree profiles or else they point researchers towards the wrong locations to locate records.

There is a map much like your suggestion on this page.
Well, a link to a map.

How about more counties than Berks although that may include most of it.

I would like to be a member?

Can I please be added to the members of this group.  I have several ancestors who originally settled in that area and I’m trying to find more information about them.

To both Christopher Arden and Roger Wells Wells-3386

I think it is a "free space" page. Not sure you have to be added.  If there is something I should do to add you, please tell me what it is. smiley

Good idea Dawn.

What is the exact name of the page or is there a link for it? We can add a link to the page from the project.

Thanks Dawn. I've added this to our links on the main project page.

I would also like to be a member.   I grew up in Berks County, and almost all of my ancestors were Palatines who settled there and stayed!

I'm. not sure how to find you though, or the map you mentioned.

The page can be found here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Berks_County%2C_Pennsylvania

There is also a link on the main project page for the Palatine Migration Project in the WikiTree Links section.

My ancestor Johann Jacob Griesemer (Cresamor) came to Phillidelphia on the Thistle in 1730. His father was Johann Valantine Griesemer. Do you know where I can assess more information than just the passenger list? Thanks Rebecca Joan Cresimore Jacob is my 4th great grandfather.

Sounds like a great idea.  I grew up in Berks, but am continually confused by the names....good example is DeLong/DeLang church.   I think there are two that have/had that name.
by Judy Brett G2G6 Mach 1 (15.9k points)

The original spelling of the family name was DeLang. It changed over time to DeLong!

I am a member of the Delong’s UCC Church which was known as Delong’s Reformed Church and later as Delong’s UCC Church.

The cemetery is known as the Union Cemetery since it is and was the burying ground for both the Reformed (UCC) and Lutheran churches in the village.

Thanks for the info.   Is this the DeLong's church in Bowers?   I believe there was also one in Maxatawny?
Judy,

Yes, same church. It was also part of the Topton (St. Peter’s Reformed Church) and the Maxatawny (Zion) Union Church and shared the Reformed (UCC) church pastors.

RG
Roy, again thanks for the clarification.  I attended the Topton Reformed Church and joined in the youth group at Maxatawny Zion.   I know those churches, but having grown up in Topton, I don't think I ever went to the DeLong Church in Bowers - and my best friend was a DeLong.

Do you think it would be a good idea to add a category for the Goshenhoppen Catholic Mission? It was a very distinct community, and a number of those parishioners lived in various townships outside of Bally, or even in Northampton county.
