First time categorizing. Well, actually second. I did my first earlier today and it was a snap. Wish I had known about it when I was first setting up my profiles, such a good idea!
I'm looking for the proper text to categorize this cemetery where I have several ancestors buried. Also, should I be doing something to signify the Texas State Historical Markers? It is unique that three are located at this one site.
While looking for the text, I found the Coker Cemetery named in a list on the cemetery category pages but it did not yet have that landing page that describes the text to be used like all the others did. If it is under review, I'm including the link to the cemetery below and this short summary for reference.
My GGFx3 Joseph Coker moved their entire Coker family to the site where they created a small, but thriving community, the Coker Community. His older brother John "Jack" Coker received the Land Grant for his heroism at the Battle of San Jacinto. "Uncle Jack" and six others under Sam Houston's command are considered instrumental in the victory over Santa Ana's troops for their plan, and execution of that plan, to destroy a bridge thereby deliberately "trapping" themselves, forcing a long awaited battle that ironically, reportedly, lasted only 17 minutes.
I don't want to get the category text wrong, if somebody would provide or point me to it I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
Below is the link to the cemetery which includes fascinating articles written by my genealogist Uncle, Bob Battaglia who also served as the Coker Cemetery Association's Historian and board member until his death. The board, among other things, reviews applications for burial there which is, as I understand it, is exclusive and restricted to bloodline family. So, if any of you are on my branches....! Too noisy for me, the original grant land is at or adjacent to the current San Antonio Airport! I never got to meet this genealogist uncle, his and Dad's connection was a DNA surprise, but it seems I've inherited his obsession!
