Are any genealogist researching my tree as it is very interesting and confusing with strong links to the plantagenets.

My blood line is very interesting but also seems to be of historical importance. I am not experienced in genealogy and wasn't expecting to find that I have such interesting connections that are of such importance in history. If anyone can help me look further or advise me on available tools to research more I would really appreciate it

You are talking about the House of Plantagenet?

Hi Samantha, I also have blood lines through to the Plantagenets and Charlemagne.  The royal houses seem to be connected at that time in history and I wasn’t sure I should believe it.  However, it was worth doing some historical reading on the families.

Here's another tip, click on the green tags at the top of your profile. These tags will take you to a list of members interested in the same names as you. Maybe you can find someone to collaborate with there.

You can have up to twenty tags. So if the name you are interested in is not already a tag, click on the word "following" and add more tags.

What family name are you looking for?  You can start by looking for plantagenets or your name and plantagenets and something should come up,  there are millions.  If you have a profile on Wikitree with dates of birth, etc.  perhaps you can connect it to your question so people can see what they know?

Start with yourself and work backwards.  Much better than picking a historical figure and working forwards.  Because historical figures often had as many as 26 children, then your head would soon spin as you tried to work out 'who married whom' and 'how many children did *they* have?'

And add solid sources (where you found the information) as you go.  Don't think "oh, I'll come back to that one day" - because you never find the time!

The most important thing with genealogy, whether your ancestors were of hisotrical importance or not, is moving back one step at a time, and making sure each individual is properly sourced.

I see you have predomiantey English ancestry, you might be interested in joining the England Project, and doing the Orphan Trail.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Orphan_Trail_Team

The Orphan Trail is a great way to get a feel for how wikitree works, and how to properly source and document profiles. When I did the Oprhan Trail, I had been researchig for years, however it really helped me tke my research to the next level. This should give yo the tools and confidence needed to work on your own lines

Hi we are 14th cousins https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Relationship&action=calculate&person1Name=Latimer-1800&person2Name=Champion_de_Crespigny-8 and are also related in at least 285 other ways ;)

Wikitree is most enjoyable. It is a great community where we are all working on the one tree and trying to document the lives of our ancestors and their relations.

I endorse Ros Haywood’s answer to work backwards and document as you go how you know the facts and relationships that you add.

Anne! that's not the way to spell my name! In fact, it's right up there under my Best Answer.

Ross = I'm not a man who can't spell his own name
Hayward = nice and easy to spell: Hay as in hay and wood as in wood.

;)
Aagh. So sorry Ros. It was very late at night here. Mea culpa.

I had my lineage proven to Charlemagne in August 2019 & was able to become a life member of the Order of the Crown of Charlemagne in the USA using the first proven and now accepted Royal Spanish Gateway Ancestor Juan Montes Vigil who connects to Charlemagne through the Ponce de Leon family. The line goes from Taos, New Mexico to Mexico then over to Spain, Italy and then France.  The people in between are very Notable and are Founders of Modern France, Italy, Spain & Portugal.

The best advise I can give is never trust online trees that have unverified sources, use only period documents, and try to only use Birth, Marriage, Death, Wills & land records. That is how my Membership was proven.

I am in the process of entering my OCC Record Copy lineage that was approved, but I need to be Pre-1500 approved to do it here. I still need to add 5 more Generations to my tree to connect to other Wikitree profiles that go up.

It is Very Easy to say you are a descendant of Charlemagne, buy Very Hard to prove it using modern Genealogical Standards.   https://www.charlemagne.org/krslwksh.html

Also if you have a Plantagenet lineage you should be able to find your Gateway Ancestor in Richardsons book "Plantagenet Ancestry" This book is considered an acceptable source by many lineage societies, as long as the line has not been retired.  If your Gateway Ancestor is not in this book or the OCC proven Royal Gateway Ancestors list, then you most likely have a lineage problem and would need to prove the line with period documents.
