Trying to trace my 3rd/4th (gt gt gt gt/gt gt gt gt) grandparents James Stuart and Isobel Stuart's information.

They came from Forgue Aberdeenshire Scotland.

Their daughter was Elspet Stuart born 1819 born Drumdolla Forgue Aberdeenshire Scotland who married Alexander Milne from Newmills of Boyne/Fordyce Banffshire Scotland.

Would love to data/dates/parents etc for James Stuart and Isobel Stuart as have hit a brick wall.

Many thanks if there is any information to be found.

I found their marriage (I assume from the Old Parish Registers) on MyHeritage:

https://www.myheritage.com/research/record-30229-1933241-S/isobel-stuart-and-james-stuart-in-scotland-marriages

I searched for the birth of James in Arberdeenshire at about the right time.  The most likely candidates in my view are:

I was once told by someone expert in Scottish genealogy that getting past 1800 is very dicey.  You see why here.

I tried the 1841 Census of Scotland.  The best I got out of the first 60 is:

Good luck!

Anything in the Old Parish Registers is likely to be on Scotland's People, where the index entry is free to view (after you have registered for an account). This looks like the marriage you mention, David:

<ref>[https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/search-our-records Scotland's People] Church Registers - Old Parish Registers Banns and marriages. James Stuart. Spouse Isobel Stuart. Date 26/12/1816. Parish number 194. Reference 20 260. Parish Forgue. Accessed 13 April 2022.</ref>
Thank you.  I have used Scotland's People a couple of times but somehow it did not come to mind.
On further reflection: I should have mentioned the value of finding the names of James' siblings or of all of his children.  If you find them, you could use the Gaelic naming conventions to guide a search for James parents, because (if the naming conventions are followed) the names of the children predict the grandparents names.  Same for Isobel. This is truly a long shot and should not be confused with proof, but might send further research off in a good direction.
Sorry not able to afford My Heritage records to see what you have discovered but many thanks for ur help
Thank u for this
Try Scotland's People which is free and should have the relevant records.
