At least, I think its cyrillic. It's very confusing.

Hi Laura. Location suggestions should appear in the language which is set in the "Language" field of the profile. Would you like to give us an example of a profile where you are seeing Cyrillic?
So when editing most profiles, if I try to put the birth location as, say, Dysart, Scotland, the suggestions I get include

Dysart, County Westmeath, Ирланд

Dysart et al, Haliburton, Ontario, Канад

Dysart, Thomond, Ирланд

Dysart, Tasmania, Laustralän (also not in english??)

Dysart, Maricopa, Arizona, Америкийн Нэгдсэн Улс

and so on

This is occuring on profiles I have created but most recently on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lawson-11623

This doesn't happen when I try to edit one of the profiles you created (Barrett-13346). The page

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Language_Selection

says

If you don't select a language, the suggestions will be in your local language.

This might come down to the "system language" you have set, as suggested in C Handy's answer.

"Америкийн Нэгдсэн Улс" appears to be "USA" in Mongolian.

I agre with Jim that locations on your profiles are showing correctly for me, so it must be something in your computer, browser, or wikitree settings.

You have an outstanding Draft on the profile above, so I don't want to discard or use that draft.

I went into O'Loughlin-692, entered Dysart, Scot in the birth location and none of the locations mentioned above are shown in the suggestions.

You should add tag of Sysops, so that someone that is familiar with the suggested locations may be able to help you.

Is your system language set to a language that uses the Cyrillic alphabet, like Ukrainian or Russian? Or are you using a VPN which sets your location as either of those places? System language or geolocation seem like the most likely reason.

I don't use a VPN, I live in New Zealand and I'm using a Chromebook set to US English. How confusing- I'm guessing you don't get the same problem?
Is the language setting of the profile set to other than English?
I haven't actually been adding languages so that could be why. Will do that and see how that goes. Thanks!

If you don't set a language, the default should be English "your local language", whatever that means: see my comments above.

I should clarify also that the first part (e.g. city) will usually be in English but the country will be in cyrrilic
