Anyone out there make regular trips to the Fayette County Court in Lexington KY?

Question

I have been trying diligently to find a marriage BOND or CONSENT for the marriage of James G Cheshire and Rachel Hayes (sic) on 6 June 1865 in that county. I wrote to Fayette County Clerk, used their form and included a check and they returned it, unable to look for it. Then, I sent a request and check to Fayette Co Gene Society and it was returned undeliverable. I know the marriage is there but I am looking for relationships, ie bond, witnesses or consent.

Is there anyone that makes regular trips to the county clerk office that would be willing to look for me? I am happy to buy your lunch! AND PAY YOUR GAS!

About a 2 hour 45 minute trip for me. I'd have to gather my own list of stuff to search for if I were to plan a trip like that... Not on my radar at the moment, sorry. But perhaps one day...

Some years ago, the Kentucky Archives at Frankfort, KY, acquired most of the very early records of Fayette County.  Some of these are "The Burnt Records of Fayette County" where the old County Clerk transcribed what he could from the burned scraps of wills and court records.

If you can't get to Frankfort, sometimes they will answer research requests for a fee.

Thank you Jeanne, I appreciate your effort. However, the burnt records of Fayette Co cover the years 1787-1802. The fire was in 1803. I am looking for a copy of an 1865 marriage record incl bond, consent and witnesses.
