I have yet to find any of these supposed super-centenarians from the 19th century who were really that old. Between the 1850 census and their deaths they seem to have gained 5-10 years in age from census to census and are much more likely to have been in their 90's rather than 100+ when they died. I'm sure many had no idea exactly when they were born and they were really old when they died. Tracing someone named "Smith" is tedious, often impossible, but the newspaper articles do list several places she lived, so finding her in census records may be possible.
