I just added some sources and a biography to Hugh L Wilson's profile and I must say his probate was very interesting. I have never seen such an extensive list of debts owed to a person. I think everyone in 1808 Rowan County, NC was listed in there! I am looking for a link between Alexander Nesbitt who received land from Hugh Wilson's estate and the Wilson family. Maybe someone out there in wikiland knows something.

The Rowan County library has an extensive collection of records from early Rowan (and Iredell) counties collected by Mary McCubbins.  They include court, land, and newspaper records.  These records have been digitized and made available online through the library's website.  The records are organized by surname.  The answer may appear in those records.  I suggest you read the Nesbitt and Wilson surname records.  The Nesbitt records are extensive and have two surname listings.  There are 17 listings of Wilson records.  Here is a link to the surname index for these records.  https://edithclark.omeka.net/mccubbins-index
