Looking for documentation to proved Deborah Dain (wife of Adam Shaner) was daughter of Ebenezer Dain and Margaret Beard.  Deborah was born 1791 and died 1869 - married 1807 in Muskingum County, Ohio.  I am trying to submit Ebeneezer to SAR for his Rev War service BUT they require proof that Deborah was his daughter - I only have online pedigree charts, which they have rejected.   Please help.

Is the surname Dain or Dains?
Surname is spelled several differenct ways:  sometimes it is spelled:

Dain

Daynes

Danes

Deans

Daines

etc

Looks like there are two prospective parent pairs (say that three times fast).

Checked about Muskingum County Marriage Records, but they did not keep records of marriages back in 1807.

Birth and death records are available from 1867 to 1908.  Prior to 1867, no records were recorded in this county.  After 1908, the records are maintained at the Board of Health, 205 N. Seventh Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
Will and estate records are available from 1804 to the present.
Marriage license are available from 1804 to the present.
Naturalization records are available for the early 1800’s.
Some information might be available through estate records, but this type of research cannot be handled through our Court due to lack of time and personnel – UNLESS YOU KNOW THE APPROXIMATE DATE AND EXACT NAMES.  We do not check for names of ancestors.  You may request information by emailing a request to probate@muskingumcounty.org or mail a request to the Court with a self addressed stamped envelope.  The Court will not mail any copies, prior to receiving payment.
If you wish research work done, you may write to the Muskingum County Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 2427, Zanesville, Ohio 43702-2427 and they will furnish you with the names of researchers in this area.
