Do we have any interest in John Tompkyns 1540-1588?

Do we at least have enough interest to work on this line? It is

In fact the entire Tompkyns family is rife with duplicate profiles and unsourced assertions.Would anyone like to join me in documenting John Tompkyns, his mother Ellen Stanis Tompkyns 1563-? (Stanis-1) , his father Ralph Tompkins  Tompkins-403, Ralph Tompkyns' first wife Katherine Foster Tompkins Foster-1170.  Let's face it...this is a mess. And because none of the profiles was  attached  to a project, unsourced merges kept happening without notice. Augh!!  I've moved them to the United Kingdom project.

Welcome aboard, Ken. All we can do is look for evidence & see to what conclusions the facts lead us. BTW, I also have lines I research in New Jersey. It wouldn't surprise me if your Tompkins and my Britton's knew each other during life.

You could start with the research by Matthew Tomkins, who went through all the Edlesborogh records, and threw doubt on the tradtitional genealogies. He posted some things on rootsweb, such as this:

It may be that these early Tompkyns have to be severed from the supposed descendants that are the reason for the mass of undocumented and conflicted genealogical submissions.

Thank you, sir. I certainly will start there. This is not one of my lines that had been on my radar so I have to play catch up on the background material.
