My Paternal Grandmother's father emigrated from London to Fiji in the late 1800s where he was appointed Commissioner of Customs and Receiver General in 1900. Following an illness and a quick visit back to London, he died in 1901. My question is, who were his parents? What is the significance of the 'Aston' in his name? This has been a 'brick wall' for quite a few years.
What we have been told is that Richard Aston Scott's father's name was also Richard and that he was a Dental surgeon in London. Following a bit of research, we believe that we might have found someone who "could be" his father - Scott-16785. His mother, on the other hand, eludes me. Authorities in Fiji say her name might be - Helen, but I have not found any reference to anyone by that name. I have found a record that shows Letitia Hurly married Richard Scott, but doubt she is the person I am looking for.
Any advice or suggestions are much appreciated.
