How do I merge duplicate profiles and correct relationships to connected people?

I have just adopted 4 profiles that are attached to my Hughes line and there are some major issues with them that I need help correcting. 

Ellen Hughes Weatherford has two profiles, which are linked below. 

This profile (Hughes-2637) has her as the mother of William Washington Weatherford Sr.(Weatherford-47)  

This profile (Hughes-2638) has her as the mother of William Washington Weatherford Jr.(Weatherford-46) 

William Sr is older than Ellen by about 2 years, so obviously she isn't his mother.  She would have been approximately 42 years old when Jr was born, so that is doable. 

I didn't make these mistakes, but I have adopted them, so I need to correct them. I just don't know how to go about it. As I understand it, we are not able to delete people from this tree. If we were, then I would just delete one of the Hughes profiles and then get the men worked out somehow.

All four profiles have only an impossible 'firsthand knowledge' source.  Hughes-2367 has a profile comment stating without proof that she should have different dates.  When you find original sources for them, you will be able to sort them out.  It's best to do that before proposing a merge.
