I spent a little time researching Moses Hill and his family, and editing various profiles. My perusal of Massachusetts records led me to conclude that "Moses" was a popular name with families named Hill in 1700s Massachusetts, making confusion very likely. The profiles for many of these people seem to be based on the authority of Family Trees Found on Ancestry, which often are effective at spreading confusion.
I did not finish the task of deconflating this man's family, but I made major progress. In particular:
- All of this man's connected children are now confirmed as his.
- I disconnected Mary (Hill) Mansfield as his daughter and connected a profile for Mary (Hill) Young, who looks like a perfect match for the Molly Young who was named in his will.
- I removed Lucy (Adams) Hill as mother of the children of this Moses Hill. She and her husband Moses Hill had children in the town of Gardner, Worcester County, Massachusetts, whereas this man and his wife Luce had their children in the town of Athol, Worcester County.
Some of the steps remaining to be done:
- I have not added sources and sourced data to the unsourced profiles of several of the children of Moses and Luce.
- I have not connected Lucy Adams to all of her children.
- I have not figured out who Mary (Hill) Mansfield was.
- I don't know who Luce, the wife of this Moses was. No one seems to have found a marriage record for this couple. If she is not identified, she should be given a profile as Luce (Unknown) Hill.
