Until the earliest of one hundred years from the person's death, the person's 150th birthday, or the profile manager deciding to change the privacy.  Assuming the person wasn't a Notable.

My question arose from a profile of a person who died about 2000.  The person’s wife died about 2012 but she has no profile.

The profile’s creator/manager remains active but I have not contacted them.

I have no family connection with the people but the manager appears to be very distantly related.
With the so recently deceased, if your only interest is editing, perhaps you might consider that they have still living family members and that there may be aspects of their lives that might affect the living family emotionally. So, private status should be respected .
Thanks for the star Douglas!
