While researching the confusion surrounding Francis Wright, a poster in G2G commented, "George Washington and his Massey cousins maintained a bond..." The post is listed below. I'd like to know who this Washington/Massie ancestor was. How exactly is George Washington related to the Massie family?

Thank you for clarifying the spelling of this last name. There seems to be "mass" confusion (LOL) about the spelling to this last name. This profile spells the name "Massie:"

But I'm guessing there was a Massey family and a Massie family in Virginia around the same time? Or one is the ancestral spelling and the other is a misspelling?
And, yes. Massey-2498 is the profile that was in dispute.
From what I can tell, the original poster in that G2G post mentioned this about the Massey cousins, and the profile manager as well as others stated this did not appear to be accurate. The Francis Wright in this profile (from the G2G) appears to be related through marriage to George Washington through 2 marriages, so maybe distant cousins.
If you look at the Francis Wright who is married to Ann Massey, they also share a reasonably close connection with George. This Francis is definitely 2nd cousins with George and so his wife and her Massey family would be another step further and be more distant cousins.
