Meet Quaker Record Keeper & Genealogist John Cox

In my book adventures, I stumbled upon an extraordinary limited edition printing of a work "Quakerism in the City of New York 1657-1930" by a fellow named John Cox. It turns out John Cox should be a WikiTree Hero (do we have such a category?) and I want to make him known to our WT Quakers Project.

For more than 40 years he kept the records for the New York Yearly Meeting of the Society of Friends and collected over 1700 volumes of meeting minutes and records. He also wrote a number of books. He was a fellow of the American Society of Genealogists. The book named above was a limited edition private printing but there are a few copies available thru Abebooks and Biblio.

Hi,

My Grandfather was a Quaker from North Carolina. His parents were John Russell and Dorthy Jane Smith. He was born in Guilford, NC in 1847, and graduated from Guilford College. He died in Tucson, AZ in 1931.

I would be interested in working in the Quaker project when I have time and answering any questions you might have.
