Warwickshire Archives Past Unlocked is causing a 966 link error

The links to individual records are working on all the profiles where I have used them however they are showing a db error 966. I can mark them false in the short term or should this be something that Ales looks at for future validations? Thanks everyone :-)

The links work for me.
Yes, it works for me too. But it is still generating an error.

I checked the http://archivesunlocked.warwickshire.gov.uk/calmview/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&id=00573%2f7%2f5%2f4 link and it returns the page in my browser, since I have the Cookie stored. Trying the link in incognito browser returns 500 error. So it seems to be a problem on their site and I guess the first time visitors can't see the page.

My visit two days ago was my first ever.  Perhaps it is a location thing.  I am based in the US.

For me, the links work. However, the ones to the Google book, work, but I have to scroll through to get to the correct page - the link automatically sends me to page 167 and not page 168.

This could be why you're receiving the 966 error.  Maybe a direct link to page 168? I would think that would fix the error.

False errors do occur. Personally, I wouldn't mark it as a false error until attempts have been made to fix it.

Thanks Carol. It is not the Google Books link that is causing an error. It is the link to the Warwickshire Archives.

Further research, looking at the actual error message, it appears to be all the links to the "Warwickshire's Past Unlocked"

The info column on the Wiki+ report shows a "500 internal server error".  - I would suggest a copy/paste of the link into the source.

Here is the link for describing the 966 Error and recommend changes: Error 966

Hope this helps. If not, give another shout out smiley

An internal server error ought to represent a temporary problem on the site (assuming the people responsible for maintenance haven't abandoned it). So the site could have been down when the suggestions scan was taking place, but have recovered afterwards.

If so, the suggestions can be ignored and should go away by themselves next week. There is no need to mark the suggestions as false, or to edit the profiles.

If they don't go away next week and the site still appears to be up, Aleš may need to have a look at the issue.
It could also mean a problem with Aleš's server not being able to access that particular site.  It wouldn't be the first time.
The link is saying it is not 'secure'.  That may be the reason, also

I played with the address and changed the page number to 168 in the URL, which now goes to page 168 in the Google Book.

The book reference should be mentioned, so I changed "Google Book" to Descendants of Gov. Thomas Welles of Connecticut, Volume 1, 2nd Edition by Barbara Jean Mathews, Page 168 for the book name.

Since you have the document names in the sources for Warwick, you might want to change the inline citation to the document name instead of Warwickshire Archives for each of the citations since that is the link destination.

Thanks Sheryl. The Google Books link is not the one that is causing the db error though.

The Warwickshire citations gave the suggestion.  The best thing to do is wait until the new report is published on Tuesday, 28 December 2021.

The citations have the name and the URL; it might be better to include the name in the URL brackets instead of just Warwickshire Past Unlocked for three different citations.  I edited the first to show what was intended.

Happy New Year to you,

Sheryl
