Nellie May Hoffman-Kelsey-Beal: Looking for info on Beal husband.

Nellie May Hoffman was born in MI in 1899; and died in PA in 1984. In Michigan she married a Walter Kelsey in 1915 at age 16 and he died 12 years later. After Mr. Kelsey's death it appears she was married or had relationships with a number of men, but it ended with marrying a man with the last name Beal(s) who preceded her in death. I am assuming he was from PA since that is where she lived when she died. Her children did not move along with her (at least the first 5-6) from relationship to relationship. I do not know anything about him other than his last name as she was called Grandma Beal(s) by our family before she died.

Did not find any other Beal buried at Clinton UP Church Cemetery.

If you could obtain Beals first name from any one of your living relatives or another source, that could be significant is sleuthing out more information about Mr. Beal.

I found that Nellie was buried in the same cemetery as a sister-in-law, Anna Mae (Craig) Richey -- whom she would have been related to by a previous marriage. Nellie's funeral arrangements were made by her niece, Joan Richey Holland, daughter of Anna Mae.

Also found Mr. Archibald E. Craig at the same cemetery - Nellie was listed as his wife when he died July 1, 1960.

There is a Beal male marriage recorded, but does not follow your family lore.

Did you know your Grandma Beal? Do you know when she died, personally??

Or is most of this family lore supposition? These questions are not to cast

any aspersion on  family knowledge.

I did not know her personally as I married into the family the year after she died and she had spent many years estranged from this part of her family due to abandoning them after her first husband died -- they were raised by their grandparents, adoptive parents, and others who took them in temporarily (this is for sure). She did reconnect with this part of the family before she died, but much of the story I know is family recollection (there is some heresay in the story I have). The basic information I have agrees with what is found on FamilySearch.org and FindAGrave.com
