Origins of Pierre Ricard dit Lecour

Good morning,

I’m looking for some help with a brick wall ancestor Pierre Ricard. His nickname is sometimes recorded as Pierre Ricard dit Lecour.

I have seen a tree on Ancestry that suggests he was born about 1794 in Quebec and married Mary Madeleine McAuley in Quebec.

The couple later ended up in Beckwith, Ontario where they had numerous children.

I’d love some assistance to go further back in Pierre’s tree if possible. I’m not having much luck in the free sites. Maybe see if anything is in Drouin or Ancestry.

Did you check the Quebec genealogy sites or the Canadian Archives?  Or Ontario genealogy?  they are all free.

hi Robin,

You will have to hunt for the marriage, which isn't showing up here in this province, so more probable that it was done in Upper Canada.

As to who his parents might be, unfortunately Ricard is not a rare name, nor is the dit name Lecour (and variants), so the field is wide open right now, I see dozens named Pierre within a 10 year spread either way from your estimated date.
